CashlessIndia: Get Digital Payment Support


To educate people and increase their awareness about conversion of actual transaction to cashless mode, a single nationwide helpline (14444) is now assigned. Government had sought out to help people in providing support about digital payments to people on a mass scale.

Digital payments Help - Website + TV channel + Helpline

Government of India is leaving no stone unturned. 

The Ministry of Electronics and IT(MeitY) on 9th December launched a free-to-air TV channel DigiShala which is expected to be available on Doordarshan's DTH platform

A website 'CashlessIndia' has been launched with a vision to educate people and to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.

Additionally a nationwide helpline 144444 is to be launched, to assist people. Availability of Phone features, Aadhaar number and Bank account of the person are considered to zero in on the most suitable cashless option. This helpline also has an advance stage of operation, a call centre support at the back-end.

Demonitisation - Digital Payment 

Since the Demonitisation move was announced on November 8, digital payments have increased in the range of 400 to 1,000 per cent. Digital payment companies expect this trend to stay strong, at least until cash becomes available. Once consumers develop a habit for cashless spending, it will be difficult to go back to cash. This level of transformation towards digital has not happened anywhere across the world.

Digital payments - Increased Revenue 

With this booming increase in digital transactions, money will subsequently come into the system which will be accountable hence generate tax. This revenue will help in improving our country's economy.

Advantages of going Cashless 

Petrol & Diesel:

0.75% discount will be available on purchase of Petrol & Diesel through either credit/debit cards, e-wallets or mobile wallets.

Highway tolls:

10% discount will be offered on use of digital mode for paying for RFID or fast-tags for highway toll.

Railways:

  • On booking railway tickets online Rs 10 lakh accident insurance will be available.
  • 5% discount on retiring room rents for those using digital payments for Railway catering, accommodation.
  •  0.5% discount on Monthly and seasonal suburban railway tickets for digital purchases.
  • 5% discount on your pantry orders for card payments, if your pantry car has a POS machine.

Insurance:

Discounts will be offered for buying new policy or paying premium online via PSUs websites - 10% for General Insurance and 8% for Life Insurance.
